The idea of the beginning of this band came up somewhere deep in the head of our,
idolatrously worshiped, untouchable leader Igor Olujic, a front man and vocal soloist.
"Frivolous Pessimists" start their work when Igor is joined by a bassist Dejan Puric,
"the golden fingers of Middle Backa"; and Boki Misic - a virtuoso on four wires, the idol of
our leader who is also a bassist, but a guitarist too, a follow-up vocal, a hidden songwriter
and composer as well, who becomes active when the band needs a melodic song and when everybody
else is without any ideas. For some time we work as a trio, with the help of some musicians from
Sombor, who help us when the gigs come. Soon, two of them become our constant members: a drummer,
Davor Demonja - "octopus on drums, when he is in the mood, the sex-symbol of our band, favourite
of all the females, their eternal long and target". Owing to him, our wives and girlfriends can
sleep peacefully. And the pianist, accordionist and follow-up vocal Damir Demonja - who has the
absolute sense of hearing, our digital tuner, tone recorder, producer, a man with the nerves of
steel, who is, on the contrary to his older brother, a serious man. He is also an extremely
wonderful father and husband.
The band gets into a studio and starts doing demo recordings with the help of brass instruments
of bands from Sombor - Line Out and Rich Bitch - and then suddenly, He shows up - a clarinetist
Pedja Macus - the king of reed, air flow, a never-ending lover and seducer, a great danger for girls,
and even grater for married women. As Davor's reinforcement, the band joins Denis Jerbic - a percussionist,
the bearer of an incredible positive energy, who gives his stamp to all our live performances, and
together with Davor, he makes a fantastic part of the rhythm section of the band, with whose playing
it is almost impossible to stay still at the concerts.
After one successful performance, something
unexpected happened - Igor Martinko, one of the best musicians in Vojvodina, a multi instrumentalist,
a music fanatic with the perfect sense of hearing, asked Boki if he could join this cheerful company.
Since that day he has been a violinist and a trumpeter of "Frivolous Pessimists", but a player of
everything else if necessary as well. By joining us, he has brought into the band some freshness,
changes in the sound (now, we sound more articulate) and with his visions he has brought some new a
spects in our music.
Because of business reasons and travelling abroad one of the founders, the bassists Purke,
had to leave the band.On his suggestion, his place took a little man but of great qualities,
Dragan Tomic, who has followed our work since its beginnings. With his style of playing he fits
in our music perfectly, and with his voice he enriched the back-up vocals of the Pessimists.
"Frivolous Pessimists" is actually a group of enthusiasts gathered around the realization of ideas of
cultural refining of the nation and who attempt to talk to the youth, especially to the majority of it,
the morally fallen ones. The youth who grows up under the influence of the mass media, which consciously
intrude on people with certain cultural and fashion image (what to wear, what kind of music to listen,
what to eat, what to look like, what to read, what is IN and what is OUT) and which create uniformed and
dull young people, with wrong ways of thinking and system of values, which consider those who think in
their own way, live by their own rules and form their own criteria of values deranged and they
cast them off..
We also judge the fact that those mass media, in attempt to create an advanced European and world nation
from the west, give us, which is interesting, mostly stupidities which normal people from out there also loathe.
We fight for preserving traditional values and against globalization.
Because of the reasons stated above, our lyrics are mostly dark and bitter, but wrapped into cheerful and
light music which is acceptable to a huge variety of people. The name "Frivolous Pessimists" is actually
the description of our music.
